Conclusion: The iPaq rz1710 isn?t a complete failure. Should HP manage to quickly lower the retail price to $210, the model might become very popular. Currently it is offered for $280, so we cannot recommend it, if you are to spend that sum, you?d better choose the iPaq 1940 (the model is still commercially available) or FS Pocket LOOX 410. Now let?s pass...
Conclusion: HP has always been at the forefront of the Pocket PC market, continually refreshing their range to incorporate new features. The iPAQ rz1710 is a slight step back, replacing the earlier h1900 series with a much less well-equipped model.
Conclusion: The iPAQ rz1710 is intended to be the succeeding model for the 1900 series which was launched sometime last year. Designed as a basic Pocket PC for beginners, it comes in a really slim package
Conclusion: When we asked HP why the new rz1710 doesn't measure up to the h1945, we were told that the h1945 was an end-of-life product. But the last time we checked, going forward was supposed to mean adding features or cutting prices?not cutting features and raising prices, which is all the rz1710 really seems to offer.
Conclusion: Pros: Slim and stylish; well made Cons: No built-in wireless; only 32MB of Ram Verdict: A good price, but a little too basic for our tastes
